Social media has a huge influence on our generation. There are many ways that social media can play a role in promoting sustainable fashion and inspiring others to join the movement as well. Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat are all platforms that I have personally used to sell any clothing that I am getting rid of.
Social media is also a great place to be an advocate. Sharing thrift finds and with people who could be interested in shopping sustainably could make a huge difference in their consumption patterns. Unawareness is a major drawback for sustainability as many people are unaware of the harmful effects over-consumption has on our environment.
Social media is a great way to inspire and educate others on how to thrift and where to shop. There are great online thrift stores that can be promoted through social media and linked directly to any post. Whether it is selling old clothes or showing off new finds, social media can help our generation promote better practices.
